Pat and I received a note from Randy Severson (Florida) with his renewal of the Chronicle. He said he hoped the "Pony Express" mail got his renewal to us in time for his "Free 4 Weeks." He also relived the downtown Heibel Hardware Store that I wrote about around Christmas time as a shopping for toys story. He remembered every crook and cranny in that store and where every department was located. He noted that as he grew older his eyes drifted to the right of the bikes to the gun case. A gun and a couple boxes of .22 shells later and it was off to the "dump" to shoot rats. He also said that now you would have to take classes to do that! He also said Pat must've "loved" the baseball bats and glove that were there! Also he said that every kid in Little League got their bats and gloves there.

I was listening to 94.9 FM on my vehicle and the announcers were talking about eating cold pizza. One of them said they chop it and put it in their scrambled eggs in the morning and it's really good!

The Dodgeville Area Chamber of Commerce is in the process of selling raffle tickets (225 total) for a Grand Prize of $10,000, with other prizes too, including more cash. This is in lieu of not being able to hold fundraising events in 2020. It's called "Raffle for a Cause - investing in 2021 Chamber Events!

By the way, the front door of the Chronicle has been open since early December. I've had several people ask! We do require facial coverings to enter however, but we are happy to see old and new friends even if we can't always tell who you are!

Speaking of the chamber of commerce, plans have begun for DodgeFest, scheduled for August 28, and the "Pop Up" Town Square in July plus the Slowpitch Softball Tournament for early August. We are all hoping all of the summer events can be held this year - 2021 has to be better!

The Dodgeville Lions Club's FREE Community Breakfast went pretty good last Sunday at Dodger Bowl. I don't have an official count at this point, but it was well over 150 - during COVID that's not too bad!
