Big 5th inning propels Pointers over Fennimore, secures SWAL title out-right

In their first game back in a week, Mineral Point baseball rallied for a 13-3 win over Fennimore at home Tuesday.
The Pointers jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Liam Stumpf launched a solo home run to center field in the bottom of the first inning.
Bo Hanson was on the mound for Mineral Point and threw a three up, three down second frame.
However, the Golden Eagles found some success in the top of the fourth.
Macoy Fitzgerald walked to start the inning followed by a base hit by Druw Fifrick.
Fitzgerald would score on a double down the left field line to make the score even at 1.
Fifrick would then score on a wild pitch to put Fennimore up by a run.
Mark Kenney added onto the lead with an RBI single to right field.
Hanson was able to get the three outs needed to get out of the jam.
Hanson reached on a base-on-balls in the bottom of the fifth to start.
Gunnar Gorgen would then single to left field to get the tying run to second.
Will Straka laid down a well-placed bunt to load the bases for Mineral Point.
After a strikeout, Joah Filardo stepped up to the dish and hit a two-RBI double into center field to put the Pointers on top 5-3.
Dominik McVay went on to hit an RBI double of his own later in the inning.
McVay would then score from third on a throw to second base.
After a fly out, Mineral Point took a 8-3 lead by plating six.
Hanson kept throwing well and allowed no runs in the top of the sixth.
Leyten Bowers produced in the bottom of the sixth with a bases clearing double to push the Pointer advantage to 11-3.
Fennimore's pitchers struggled to throw strikes throughout, and Straka and Springer were hit by pitches with the bases full to push across two more runs and the game would be called with two outs in the bottom of the sixth.
The win secured the Pointers' claim to a Southwest Wisconsin Activities League championship.
