Dodgeville/Mineral Point/Iowa-Grant gymnastics tri-op picked up a win over Southwestern Co-op in a SWC meet Monday in Dodgeville's new gymnasium.
It was a special event for the tri-op as it was parents night, bringing together families from all three schools.
DMPIG coach Julia Oellerich had this to say about the event.
"Tonight we celebrated our gymnasts' parents. A big shout out to our parents - there are a lot of miles traveled, hours spent in gyms or clubs, leotards and scrunchies purchased and many, many other things done to give these girls the opportunity to do what they love. It does not go unnoticed."
About the match with the Soutwestern Co-op Ollerich said:
"With back to back meets on Saturday and again on Monday, we didn't have an opportunity to make any adjustments to our routines," Oelerich said. "Each meet is a learning experience - what is working well, what needs improvement, etc. We have a bye week next week, so we willl be taking what we learned at these two meets and applying them to our routines so we can continue to advance our skills and increase our personal and team scores."
"With their first dual meet being parents night, in a new gym, with new equipment and for most of the JV team this was their first meet ever, I was really happy with their performance," Oellerich continued. "There is no such thing as a perfect meet as there are always improvements that can be made or routines that could have gone better but overall we did really well. The girls that competed on Saturday made some improvements in their routines and scored a few tenths higher. And the girls that were competing for the first time managed their nerves and competed well."
"Thanks to those who were able to come out and cheer the team on and thanks to those who did it from afar," Oellerich said.
