What I read in the Wisconsin State Journal today, Feb. 11, might seem like old news when this editorial is published. My sentiments aren't outdated.
I read that Jere Fabick, prominent donor to a political party, asked the Wisconsin Supreme Court Feb. 9 to issue an injunction against the mask mandate Gov. Tony Evers issued Feb. 4. I also read in the same article that "nearly 60 organizations opposed repeal of the mask mandate, including groups representing hospitals, doctors, nurses, EMTs, school administrators, businesses, children, unions, Milwaukee schools, American Indian tribes, pharmacists, firefighters, local health departments, senior citizens, churches, and dentists."
I strongly oppose repealing the mask mandate.
Set aside politics, Fabick. You're not trying to save lives. Do pride, power, and the color of money cause you to view life through a pair of glasses tinted green?
I applaud Evers, Iowa County Emergency Management, Iowa County Health Department, Upland Hills Health, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, and the multitudes of people, businesses, healthcare teams, public safety teams, and the variety of institutions that support the mask mandate. I thank anyone who tries to save lives during the pandemic. I admire anyone who wears a mask during the pandemic. I praise anyone who follows pandemic safety protocols.
If the Wisconsin Supreme Court strikes down the mask mandate, I hope Iowa County institutes its own mask mandate.
