Speaking of the immense cold. That and the snow kept Bob, Terry and I close to home on Saturday as we went to Cafe by Country Kitchen. Our threesome made it four people there at 7:30 a.m., but it soon filled up pretty good as people came out in the cold! We were joined by owner Craig Dougherty and we all learned a lot from each other (as usual)!

Today (Thursday, February 18) is National Drink Wine Day. Also, February is National Wedding Month. Boy, those are two things I don't do. I'd probably drink wine before I'd get married!

Pat and I received a nice note from DHS graduate (a few years ago - class of 1960) Rolf Lulloff. His folks ran the Lulloff Funeral home, now Lulloff-Peterson-Houck in Dodgeville. He said, "I enjoy the Chronicle more every year - and Kramer Rock and I lunch together frequently here in Green Bay. And I enjoy Mike's column and the back page articles too. Stay healthy and keep up the good work. And sign me up for two more years of the Chronicle!"

Thank you Rolf. He was a senior when Pat was a freshman and I was in eighth grade!

The Dodgeville Area Chamber of Commerce is in the process of selling raffle tickets (225 total) for a Grand Prize of $10,000, with other prizes too. This is in lieu of not being able to hold fundraising events in 2020. It's called "Raffle for a Cause - investing in 2021 Chamber Events!

By the way, the front door of the Chronicle has been open since early December. I've had several people ask! We do require facial coverings to enter however, but we are happy to see old and new friends even if we can't always tell who you are!

Speaking of the chamber of commerce, plans have begun for DodgeFest, scheduled for August 28, and the Pop Up Town Square in July plus the Slowpitch Softball Tournament for early August. We are all hoping all of the summer events can be held this year - 2021 has to be better!

The Dodgeville Lions Club is hosting a FREE Community Breakfast on Sunday, February 21 from 8 a.m, to noon at Dodger Bowl. There will be dine -in or carry-out available. Facial coverings will be required. Any proceeds will be given to the Dodger Food Locker. The Lions give a lot back to the community every year, including a bunch of scholarships to DHS graduates. Check out a photo above off the workers from last year's breakfast at Dodger Bowl. It will definitely look different as masks will be required!
