No Statesmen Here

Dear Editor;
Last week, the Iowa County Zoning Committee sidestepped the issue of considering any updates to their wind ordinances regarding the new massive Upland Wind project slated for our community. This inaction follows our political elites at large, the precedent of again not protecting our homeland from the financial carpetbaggers wanting to exploit our community for the benefit of a few.
Two comments rang out from the zoning meeting's discussion: apparently there are "complainers" in our midst that are questioning why there must be silence to the invasion by the rich, taking of our treasures, without just compensation to those afflicted upon. "Complainers" may be a bit more sophisticated than Hillary Clinton's "deplorables," but the essence is the same; 'If you don't agree with me, then because of your incompetence and status, you shall be dismissed.'
Again, we heard; 'If you pay for land and pay the taxes, then a man should do what he wants with his land.' Of course, that works for one side of the equation and conveniently dismisses the other side. There is blatant bias here. 'Love thy neighbor' is rejected for 'just screw'em.'
Churchill observed, when the approaching storms of war had been allowed to flourish unabated; "...we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills..."
Today however, our feckless political bosses, federal, state, and local all would agree by saying to the invaders: 'Come on in, the water is fine, gimmie' a piece of the action.'
