Panther girls have strong first half with Redbirds

Iowa-Grant's girls basketball team had one of their best halves of the season Thursday when they were within three points of Darlington at 22-19 at intermission.
But the second half was just the opposite as the Redbirds raced to a 33-8 difference.
In the final 18 minutes leading scorer Ashley Runde had four of her 10, Grace Vivian put in all three of hers and Lauren Linscheid the one free throw she contributed.
"We went out tonight and put together another great first half," said Panther coach Melissa Martinez. "We were only down by three."
"We stalled the second halff and had too many turnovers," Martinez added. "Darlington stayed steady and pulled away."
Laura Sturtz, a 5-6 senior, led the Redbirds with 20 points with six three pointers. Taylor Wedig, a 5-9 junior, added 12.
