Recognize your mail carriers

Dear Editor;
Did you realize: that letters are delivered anywhere in the U.S. for the same flat fee, whether it's traveling across town or coast-to-coast; USPS carriers are expected to reach every household (with a few exceptions); and its postmarks can legally serve as documentation of when an item was mailed, whether a postcard or a ballot?
What about packages? It's very common (and less expensive on the sender's part) for delivery companies like FedEx, UPS, and others to handle long-distance transportation, then hand off some packages to USPS to deliver.
Speaking of carriers
Please take a moment, during this season of "Being Thankful" to recognize your mail carrier whether city or rural, female or male.
And a path to your mailbox, clear of ice and snow, is safer for both you and your carrier. But if you are unable, hopefully a neighbor will be kind enough to do it (because it's really hard sometimes to ask for help).
Happy December!
