Panthers tipped by Lady Miners in OT

Ella Woodworth saved the best until last in Shullsburg's 48-47 overtime win over Iowa-Grant Tuesday.
The junior forward scored all three of her points in overtime and freshman Taylor Russell had five to give the Lady Miners an 8-7 edge in the extra period for the win.
Sophomore Camden Russell led Shullsburg with 16 points with freshman Taylor adding 14. Freshman Stella Spillane completed the double figures trifecta for the Miners with 11.
The Panthers battled all night and by playing a complete game they gave coach Melissa Martinez hope that the progression is on track for success. The Panthers had a four point lead at the end of quarter one, 19-15, and played even with the Miners the rest of the way.
Junior Julia Searls led the Panthers with 17 points with junior Ashley Runde adding nine and sophomore Adrianna Jelle eight.
Searls hit a huge three pointer and had five points in the overtime period with Jelle adding two.
"We are moving in the right direction," Martinez said. "The overtime game was fun but defensive lapses and foul trouble hindered the outcome."
"But I am proud of the entire group," the coach added. "The energy, effort and competitiveness was great to see the entire game."
