Last Wednesday was the second time recently that we ran into two Dodgeville graduates - Scott Weier and his wife Karen (Rasmussen) - at Bob's BBQ. I had to go through the list of Rasmussen girls to get Karen's name - there were a bunch! Scott was an employee of Dick's Supermarket in Dodgeville and then became manager of Piggly Wiggly in Prairie du Chien. Dewey Christoph was with Bob, Terry and me at Bob's and he knew Scott from when he used to live in Prairie.

Saturday morning it was just Terry and I going to breakfast as Bob and Dewey both had other plans. Then got a text from Dave Stone asking where breakfast was going to be. I said General Store in Spring Green and he met us there at 8:00 a.m. Dave had been on a 6-week vacation out west, so we got a chance to hear a lot about it and his adventures. It was a good thing I have been carrying a mask around with me because the General Store required masks to enter and to have them on except when eating. They said Sauk County was a "hot spot"! Dave had his with him and Terry had to go back to his vehicle to get his.

We totally missed any rain or storm when then a tornado touched down near Boscobel Saturday night. I was on the phone with cousin Jeanette (Atlanta) and she was walking me through all the alerts we were having here! She made me hang up and head to the basement (which I didn't do) and then we talked about an hour later. I told her "false alarm" here! I talked with Cassidy at Cobblestone Sunday morning and she said she and her dad drove toward Spring Green and watched the clouds overhead that looked pretty scary! We did get some rain and wind about 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning, but nothing to write home about!

It won't be long and the Iowa County Fair will be here - over Labor Day weekend - in Mineral Point. But, before that happens, the Annual Cobb Corn Roast happens August 12-15 with the big FREE sweet corn day on Sunday, the same day as the huge parade!

The next big event happening in Dodgeville will be the Kiwanis Chicken Barbeque. It will be held Thursday, August 19 at Harris Park on the east side of Dodgeville. There will be plenty of chicken with sweet corn and more plus the Dodgeville German Band sill be playing throughout. There also will be a lot of socializing going on as people will be catching up from last summer! Check out a photo from the past above at a Kiwanis Chicken BBQ.

Then comes the Dodgeville Lions Club's 2nd Antique Show and Flea Market of the summer on Sunday, August 22. It is held inside Ley Pavilion at Harris Park. It is a big fundraiser for the Lions Club. There will be Lioness pies for sale too!

The Dodgeville Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting DodgeFest on Saturday, August 28 in the parking lot behind the courthouse and the Chronicle buildings. There will plenty of music and lots of food and beverages throughout the day!
*****
The chamber needs a bunch of volunteers for the DodgeFest to really be a success. If you have some time to donate to the event on Friday (set-up), Saturday (10:30 a.m.-11:00 p.m.) and/or Sunday (7:00 a.m. clean-up), contact the chamber at 608-935-9200 or stop in at 338 N. Iowa Street.

And it's not too early to be getting your team for the Annual Dodgeville Area Scholarship Foundation (DASFI) Golf Outing that will be held at Dodge Point Country Club Sunday, September 19. It's a fun day when you can see a lot of people you went to school with or you may've heard of when you were in school. People will range from still in high school to 80+!
