Pattern must prove transparency

To the Editor:
If Pattern was truly looking to become a "Good Neighbor," the first question that comes to my mind is: Why didn't Pattern come forward to the county, townships and public and announce the Uplands Wind project, maybe have a public information meeting for residents, before seeking signatures from landowners? This does not speak to transparency. If Transparency is a goal for Pattern, then I invite you to schedule a public information meeting now and accept questions ahead of time so that Pattern can be prepared to answer all the public's questions (virtual access can facilitate such an event). Please be prepared to share with the public (at the time of the public information meeting), the type and height of towers that will be built. Waiting until an application is submitted keeps the public in the dark and is not very neighborly. In the meantime, please place on your website:
• All of the meetings or communications that Pattern has had with county and municipal governments by date and summarize the information shared.
• Downloadable versions of any documents provided to local governments.
• Examples of existing projects, with contact information to regulatory dockets for the projects and local newspaper contacts (editor, phone and email contact information).
Being a "Good Neighbor" requires establishing trust through open and honest communication. The public is waiting for your reply ......
