Panthers come out strong against Boscobel

When you have a couple seasoned seniors it helps get a young team going, especially in the year of the pandemic with only a week of practice and no preseason.
It was Hazel Klosterman and Mya McCarthy who rose to the occasion for Iowa-Grant Tuesday and helped the team take down Boscobel in three sets. Scores ere 25-15, 25-20 and 25-23.
McCarthey was a kill machine with eight and she added a trio of aces.
Klosterman handled the setting and dished out 20 assists.
Also for the Panthers Alexis Vavricka had a block and Ella Zimmer came up with 10 digs.
Sarah Knowles had eight kills and four blocks for the Lady Bulldogs. Gretta Grassel had a pair of aces, Tessa Riley six assists and Emma Creasey 16 digs.
"Just great leadership from Mya McCarthy Hazel Klosterman, seniors who saw a great deal of playing time a year ago," said coach Lois Peart.. "They really did a nice job of holding things together tonight. It is always important to get out to get that first "W".
"I was proud of kids," Peart added. "We minimized mistakes and had a good night serving."
"We are not a team that will overpower people so we have to play smart and get better every day," Peart added. "We are working on that every day."
"It was a nice team win and it we did it in three which was a compliment to the kids."
