Breuer's saves send Dodge-Point to Sectional finals today

The Wisconsin Dells soccer team was seeded sixth in the playoffs and had played only seven contests before the post season.
But when they beat third seeded Madison Edgewood 1-0 you just knew they would be a force when they came to Dodgeville for a 6 p.m. Regional semifinal match-up Saturday.
The #2 seeded Dodgeville/Mineral Point squad had its hands full all night and it took a shootout after a 1-1 tie and an overtime period to decide it.
While people will no doubt remember the two goals scored by Zach Bisbach the Dodge-Pointers will remember the skill and ability another Zach.....that would be Zach Breuer, goalkeeper.
Breuer played a major role in the win, deflecting two of the dead on shots by the visiting Chiefs, keeping the first and fourth Dells shots out of the goal.
That gave the Dodge-Pointers a 4-2 difference in overtime and a 5-3 win to send them to a meeting Thursday at 4 p.m against #1 seed Sauk Prairie Eagles.
The Dells ends their season at 3-3-1
Both teams got into the goal in the first half and the 1-1 score held up as the sun set and the cold night air set in. But the action by both teams kept the players warm and the fans in the seats or in front of the stream until the end.
The local United squad scored first at 31:49 on a goal by Zach Bisbach.
The Dells matched it at 44:22 on a goal by Will Van Dinter for the Chiefs.
When it came time for the shootout the Dodge-Pointers got goals (in order) from Bisbach, Drew Hottenstein, Jared Wedig and Cooper Elsner.
Breuer was busy in the goal all night as he totaled 11 saves but none more important than the two he corralled in the shootout.
The Dells used two goalkeepers as Alejandro Salazar saved three and Jeremy Paige six.
Total shots on goal were:
Dodge-Point - 10
Wisconsin Dells - 12
Sauk-Prairie will no doubt have their hands full with the Dodge-Point squad but coach Glynn does not have much to go on to assess the Eagles.
"I would expect them to be a very solid team... but other than that it's hard to know this year with the reduced schedules and not having many common opponents," Glynn said. "Just basing it off of the one common opponent we do have (Reedsburg) we should be pretty evenly matched."
