Champs for sure.
That is the Dodge-Point United boys soccer team which remains undefeated in competition both conference and overall. Their 5-0-0 SWC mark clinches at least a share of the title with two matches left, thanks to a 4-2 win over Platteville/Lancaster Monday.
The 6-0-0 overall record has also earned the team a second seed in the playoffs which start next week. The United squad will host Reedsburg at 7 pm Tuesday at Harris Park.
There is a glitch in the preparation though. Monday night the Mineral Point school board moved their education model to all virtual at least until late October, thus taking the athletes from that school out of competition. Mineral Point and Dodgeville co-op in cross country, track and field, gymnastics and boys and girls soccer.
The Pointer part of the teams will be allowed to rejoin the squad for the post season. The D-P United team will be playing their final two conference games tonight and Friday with only the Dodgeville athletes.
Monday the D/P squad was all together and turned back Platteville/Lancaster, a team that has earned the SWC's top spot for many seasons.
D-P United scored twice in each half and held P/L off the board until the second half.
D-P scored its first goal at 15:45 when Zach Bisbach's shot got into the net on an assist by Malachi Strompolis.
The United squad struck again at 39:25. Luke Unbehaun scored it on an assist by Owen McDonald.
At 46:13 Platteville/Lancaster got its first goal on a shot by Samuel Schaffer.
Dodge/Point responded at 49:23 when Malachi Strompolis scored assisted by Owen McDonald.
United went up 4-1 at 70:55 on a second goal by Bisbach, this time assisted by Yonael Navarro Rayo.
At 73:10 Platteville/Lancaster got a consolation goal from Kayden Addie.
The D-P defense was tough and only allowed seven shots on goal, five stopped by goalie Zach Breuer.

Total Shots on net were Dodge-Point 19 and Platteville/Lancaster seven.
Dodgeville athletic director Joey Martin was happy with how the student athletes in both volleyball and soccer enjoyed their time back into action.
"It was so good to see our student-athletes back at it on Monday night," said Martin. "The energy was electric on our campus all day on Monday and our student-athletes put on a show and performed at a very high level at all levels of play. It was very cool to watch."
