Dodge-Point United shakes off DU challenge


Driftless United is a combination boys soccer teams from a group of private schools in the Viroqua area and they take the game very seriously.
But so does Dodgeville/Mineral Point United who stayed unbeaten with a 2-1 hard fought win Thursday night. DP United scored a goal in each half to claim the victory. Driftless United got on the board in the second half and became the first team to score on DP United this season.
The first score came at the 44:05 mark when Jared Wedig passed to Zach Bisbach for the score.
The eventual game winner came at 64:24 on a Luke Unbehaun goal set up by a pass from Hayden Bakken.
Driftless United scored on a penalty kick at 71:36.
The defense limited the DU shots with only three getting to the goal where they were stopped by D/P goalie Zach Breuer.
Dodge/Point had 20 shots on goal compared the DU's four.
"They were a very solid team with some really good players" Glynn said. "They were very good defensively, and had a great goalkeeper. Our team pulled through and fought to the very end for a good victory."
