Pleased with county board's decision

Dear Editor:
I was pleased to read in the September 17th Chronicle that the Iowa County Board turned back a proposed resolution that would have given the Law Enforcement Committee authority to approve an increase in the funding for the Jail now being built. The Chronicle does a good job of reporting when the Iowa County Board increases Iowa County Spending. Unfortunately when County Committees are given greater authority and therefore they make the increases this is not as clearly reported in the media.
It is unfortunate but not surprising (despite assurances to the contrary) that the jail is so quickly costing more than originally projected.
