Dodgers sweep Blackhawks in volleyball opener

All in all it was a very successful start to the Dodgeville girls volleyball season as all three Dodger teams fought their way to some tough wins.
The varsity turned back Prairie du Chien in four sets, starting with a jitters clearing opening round the lost 25-22.
But with the butterflies gone the girls won the middle two sets 25-17, 25-18 before fighting their way to an overtime win, 32-30. Nothing like a little free volleyball.
Olivia Argall mashed down 13 kills and had 17 assists to lead the Dodgers. JoJo Heimerl had a trio of aces and 13 digs. Emma Blume rejected the volleyball for three blocks.
"There were a lot of first game jitters on both sides tonight," said Dodger coach Nicole Hottmann. "We were able to get it figured out and played pretty well after that."
The JV/Varsity Reserve swept the Blackhawks but had to survive a first set barnburner to do it. Scores were 28-26, 25-11 and 25-21.
The frosh/soph team also came away with a sweep and had an exciting start with a 26-24 win. They won the last two sets 25-20, 25-15.
