As many know, "social distancing" has been the key word during the COVID-19 outbreak. With my job as a reporter, I have been very fortunate to work either in or out of the Dodgeville Chronicle office. Many newspapers around the globe have allowed reporters to work remotely, even before the pandemic.
I watched News 3 yesterday and saw that Iowa County native Leah Linscheid is playing it safe and working from home. After a good discussion with Publisher Pat Reilly, I will be doing the same.
Now please note, I am still feeling well and am not showing any symptoms (fever, chills, headache or shortness of breath), but I am taking steps to ensure that I don't fall ill and risk spreading it to others. From what the news is saying, people are carriers but they may not necessarily become sick with it.
That said, I am not going to take any chances.
There is a lot of uncertainty right now, but one thing is for sure, The Dodgeville Chronicle and its sister papers will be doing whatever it takes to safely put out our weekly papers.
The way we cover news may be different for sometime, but the paper will still be in your mailbox or on newsstands regardless.
