Let's hope that March coming in like a lamb doesn't revolve into March going out like a lion! That could mean something like the photo above that happened in the winter of 1881. The photo is of a snow thrower that they put in front of railroad trains along the Chicago Northwest and Illinois Central Railroads. Those railroads went through the Dodgeville area. Drifts from that snowstorm were reported to be 40 feet high!

I hate to keep saying this, but the Dodgeville Area Chamber of Commerce is still looking for Food Truck Vendors to help serve people at the Wisconsin Grilled Cheese Championships on Saturday, April 25. There could be some 4000 people there, so help us out! Also we need more competitors especially the Professional category. Check us out on line and enter!

We had three from our coverage area at state gymnastics Saturday as individual competitors. Dodgeville-Mineral Point senior Miah Lemanski reached the podium with a fourth placing on the beam (a very difficult event) and finished eighth overall in All-Around. Her teammate and fellow senior Tessa Bockhop finished 23rd in All-Around. Both had very great seasons and should be proud of their accomplishments. River Valley/Barneveld sophomore Lorisa Shatrawka had a great meet. She was on the podium for vault, bars and floor and being fifth in All-Around - and she has two more years left!

River Valley was our final boys basketball team from our coverage area to bow out of state tournament competition. They fell at the Regional final level. They were winners of the SWC Conference and had a good season! They are coached by a good guy, Luke Thatcher, who married a Dodgeville girl - Britt Godfrey!

Fennimore, winners of the SWAL in wrestling, and Coleman had about as close of a WIAA Wrestling Team Tournament championship match in Division 3 as you could get. They tied 26-26. The outcome went to the tie breaker. Both teams scored the same number of pins, the same number of tech falls and the same number of decisions. The tie breaker was number of first points scored. Now that's close!

St. Pat's Day is next Tuesday, March 17. Last year on that date I was in the hospital with my stroke. I hope I'm in Dodgeville for this St. Pat's Day. I still probably won't be eating Corned Beef and Cabbage though!

I haven't been able to say this lately, but Saturday I was crossing the main street in Dodgeville (in the crosswalk too) and a vehicle failed to stop for me. I took a good look at the IOWA license plate!

Bob, Terry, Dave Stone and I were joined by Denny Polglaze for Saturday breakfast. We tried a new place. It was Frederick's in Fennimore. I would recommend it. That makes 39!
