White pitches, hits Dodgers past Belmont


Dodgeville's Audrey White twirled five innings of three-hit shutout softball Monday to help her team to a 6-1 victory in July high school softball play at Belmont.
She also tripled twice and drove in two runs.
The Dodgers scored a pair of runs in the first inning. Leadoff hitter Korra Wasley singled, stole second and third and trotted home on JoJo Heimerl's single. Heimerl went to second on a passed ball and scored on a triple by Grace Borne.
They plated one more in the third, keyed by Wasley's one out single. She went to second on a ground out, stole third and walked home on White's first three baser.
Three more Dodger runs came home in the fifth. Lucy Heimerl singled, went to second on a groundout, to third on a wild pitch and came home on a passed ball. Her sister JoJo singled and scored on White's second three baser. She then came home on a passed ball.
Annika Lord relieved White in the sixth. She walked a batter that went to second and third on a pair of passed balls. She scored on a single.
White struck out six without a walk in her five frames of work allowing three safeties.
Lord fanned three, walked two and allowed one run on one hit in two innings.
The Dodgers posted 11 hits with two each coming from Wasley, JoJo Heimerl, White and Borne
Zoie Weber, Sara Graber and Lucy Heimerl each had one.
