Telling you what you need to know
By Kasi Greenwood-kgreenwood@thedodgevillechronicle.com
I've often wondered what they meant by that, and many times I've seen social media posts and comments saying, "it's the media that's causing fear,"
Let me ask you this question: where would we be without the information media provides. It provides you with your news, sports and weather. There are reasons why the information is presented to you, to protect you and keep you informed.
I've seen many people in the last few months claim that the COVID-19 is a hoax, and is basically the flu. The way I see it is the people that make these claims act like they are more informed about the coronavirus than the Center of Disease Control and Public Health Departments who provide the factual information.
It's also important to look at your leaders and see if they are taking the information seriously.
While there may be media in our world that doesn't take fact-checking seriously, our local newspapers do. We will tell what you need to know, and let you decide from there what to do with that information.
Yes there is freedom of press, but at times freedom comes with boundaries. If freedom of press allows a platform for people to share intolerance or cause harm, then to me it is no longer free, it is harmful and intolerable.
With COVID-19 and dismantling racism, there are lot of things that need to be looked at. Just know that The Dodgeville Chronicle and its local newspapers will always continue to do that work.
