Pointers find mismatch in loss to Fennimore

Mineral Point's boys basketball team put 63 points against a tough Fennimore squad in a SWAL game Thursday but it wasn't enough.
The Golden Eagles scored 76 for the game as they created a mismatch in both size and three point shooting.
One of the mismatches, 6-9 Adam Larson was tough inside and deadly from outside as he led the Eagles to the win.  He put up 29 total points, 14 of them early, and nailed five three pointers.
His freshman brother, Brady, also struck from the deep with four threes and a total of 16 points.
Warren Adam also reached double figures for the Eagles, matching Brady's total of 16.
"We need to be a lot better defensively," said Pointer coach Dan Burreson. "It is tough to win games when you give up 76 points."
Burreson knows the Pointers can improve in holding down the other team with some work.
"What we need to do is correctable," he added. "We need to clean up some things."
Joah Filardo was a force for the Pointers with a 23 point outing. He was joined by Liam Stumpf in double figure scoring with 17.
"That was a good offensive performance by Joah Filardo," Burreson said. "We are starting to see offense coming from Liam Stumpf and Justin Baehler."
Baehler just missed double figures with nine points.
Burreson was also pleased with how the Pointers shared the basketball.
"Blaise Watters and Cameron Wiegman found the open man which was good to see," Burreson said.
