Dodgers no match for #1 Cubans

When former Mineral Point player Brayden Dailey had his appeal approved by the WIAA to play at Cuba City it was like adding another missile to the weapons cache.
The 6-5 junior blends in nicely with the other sharpshooters on the number one ranked team in WIAA Division 4 and was one of four to finish in double figures in a 98-59 romp over Dodgeville in a non-conference game Monday.
Dailey finished with 20 points but it was Jackson Noll who took game honors with 24. Brady Olson with 15 and Riley Richard with 16 also got into double digit scoring.
In all, 10 players scored for coach Jerry Petitgoue's team of stars.
Sophomore Dillon Garthwaite tallied 14 for Dodgeville and senior Peyton Tranel added 12.
"Cuba City deserves their #1 ranking in the state," said Dodgeville coach Matt McGraw. "They shoot extremely well, put pressure on defensively, and play very fast."
It was a test for the Dodgers who return to conference play Thursday when they host Prairie du Chien. McGraw hopes playing good competition helps out in the long run.
"There were times where we did good things despite the score," McGraw said. "Win or learn and we have learned plenty. It is now time to grab some victories as we get back into conference play."
