It's official. The former Corner Drug Store building will become Catherine's Market in 2020. The sale went through on Friday, December 27th and was announced by the Crowley family. It will be a mercantile store with the "Old Fashioned Soda Fountain" still in operation. I would think the prices of things from the soda fountain would change, but it will still be in operation! Hopefully you can still get the "square" ice cream scoops in your cones too!

With that new business and Steph's Sweet Treats remodeling the Kozelka Wall building to open soon, that will be great for the downtown area in Dodgeville!

Saturday morning, the breakfast group - Terry Carroll, Bob Kratochwill, Dave Stone and myself - were set to head to the Unique Cafe in Boscobel, leaving the Chronicle office by 7:15 a.m. Dave Stone arrived at 7:18 and said that he was set to turn around and head back home (Klevenville) as the roads in Dane County were very icy. When he reached 18/151 in Iowa County however, they were salted and everything was OK. That prompted us to stay closer to Dodgeville, so we decided on Suzy's Pointer Cafe in Mineral Point. Dave drove his car and said he could feel the ice underneath the car at times. We came in the back way (2nd exit to Mineral Point) and the parking lot was slippery when we got out of the car. We made it inside after slipping a little, but nobody falling down. It was still a little slippery when we left around 9:00 a.m. One person inside told me they missed the first turn-in at the restaurant when they got there. Another said they almost did a 360 by the Mineral Point watertower. It wasn't a very nice day. It rained all day long!

Be sure you check out our "Year in Review" for 2019 elsewhere in this newspaper. There are a lot of memories that are included in it!

Cousin Jeanette and husband Jack arrived last Friday from Atlanta, Georgia. They have been staying in Madison, but are touring the area and meeting friends and relatives. Plans are (were) to go to the Roadhouse Inn (formerly Arthur Haus) in Arthur for New Years Eve. A group of us went there two years ago to dine and see the Comedy Show that followed. Plans are the same this year too.

We will have this paper in the mail to people on Monday, two days before the usual Wednesday mail date. We were predicted to get an inch or so of snow on Monday (paper day), so we may have a "White" New Years!
