"The Butler Did It" as Black Hawk survives Pointers in OT

Black Hawk's win streak looked like it may have come to an end at Mineral Point Monday but Bailey Butler was not about to let that happen.
All Butler did was lead the Lady Warriors to an 80-76 overtime win with 34 points. The UW-Green Bay recruit was almost unstoppable down the stretch, netting 10 points in the last seven minutes and five of seven in the extra frame.
It was Butler's third game with over 30 points this season as she reached that number vs New Glarus and Platteville.
Butler had help from Raylin Peterson who put in 15 before fouling out and Kaylee Marty who contributed 14.
The Lady Warriors did most of their damage attacking the basket and moving the ball to the open girl in the lane. They only had a pair of three pointers among their 36 baskets.
The Pointers were deadly from the outside and when the Lady Warriors moved out to defend sophomore Kennedy Wenger pounded the middle. She finished with 19 points and her neat move through the lane for the last second shot tied the game at 73-all, forcing the extra period.
Mallory Lindsey hit a trio of three pointer on the way to 17 points. Ella Chambers netted a pair and added 12 points while Macy Aschliman had two with an 11 point total. Blair Watters, who totaled nine, had the ninth trey for the Pointers.
It was Aschliman who drove for a basket and drew a bonus try who put in Mineral Point's three points in the overtime.
The loss was the first for the Pointers this season after turning back Cuba City, Boscobel and Riverdale.
