He was simply, THE BEST

Dear Editor:
What a sad day for Mineral Point last week, as we lost a true icon, Ron Murphy. In his 40 years at MPHS, every student, parent, and faculty member had come to know and admire Mr Murphy. Health class, driver's ed, Phs ed class, coaching basketball, football, and baseball, insured 100% inclusion. And for those of us "older" athletes, we enjoyed bowling, golfing, and playing softball and basketball with Murph....not to mention a card game or two.
He was a "living teacher by example"'....humility, inclusion, 100% effort, pride, preparedness, humor, and most of all, love. Love of his God, his school, his town, his family and most of all, his wife. We have witnessed this love through all the ball games, graduations, baptisms, birthdays, and birth announcements...but none as evident as the daily walks that Linda and Murph took...every step, hand in hand....every meeting and converstion, a warm smile and laugh....He was simply, THE BEST.
Linda, Pat, Mike, and Brian, be assured, that his influence on all of us will never fade; nor will the gratitude we all have for this kind and humble Man of God.
