For Miller the desire to play volleyball at the next level is there

When Rachel Miller leaves Highland High School next year look for her next stop to be on a college volleyball court.
While the junior has not had any offers yet likely because the 2020 season was shortened due to the COVID-19 virus, there is a good bet she will hear from college coaches soon. One of the reasons for that is the first team All-State recognition she has received in Division 4.
Another reason is that she has been named Co-Player of the Year of the 2020 Dodgeville Chronicle All-Area Volleyball team, an honor she shares with Iowa-Grant's Hazel Klosterman who was honorable mention All-State in Division 3.
Miller is a powerful hitter for the Cardinals and rules the nets against most opponents. She is the daughter of Jen Miller and Daniel Miller.
Besides volleyball, Rachel uses her powerful 5-9 frame and her competitive spirit to help the Highland girls basketball team as a guard/forward.
Miller's volleyball statistics are included in the article introducing the team but they are rather deceptive. She had to sit out 14 days in an already shortened season when she was exposed to the COVID-19 virus and had to quarantine.
"I was pretty excited when I heard about making All-State" Miller said.
The honor is decided on by a panel of Division 4 coaches.
Volleyball has been a big part of Miller's life since she started playing club volleyball in sixth grade with Southern Heat under her present high school coach Maria Wineski. She continued building her passion for the sport on the Highland junior high teams under coaches Jess Weber and Ginger Halverson.
Miller's biggest thrill in volleyball this season was making it to the Division 4 Regional finals where the Cardinals were eventually defeated by Potosi.
"It was just so great to feel the excitement and have your teammates supporting you," she said.
