Need to stay with it

If you think about it the COVID-19 pandemic is becoming a big part of the history of Iowa County, State of Wisconsin, The United States and the entire world. It will be a time that will be remembered and brings the question "how do you want to be remembered?"
Do you want to be part of history where we followed what the health agencies have asked and stayed home?  Have we been part of the education of our children if they are at home due to school closures? Have we done all we can to make a very difficult situation somewhat workable?
Have you worked an "essential job" and put yourself out there and maybe in the path of the much feared virus?
Iowa County picked up its seventh confirmed case Tuesday, the Iowa County Health Department announced. We could see more cases now that the hospital has received a good amount of test kids that have been on order since March and can be more involved in testing.
The Governor extended the stay at home and business closure order and released a plan to begin opening up the state when certain criteria are met. Don't look for that to be a race. Plan for it to be a marathon.
Last weekend was full of nice weather and instead of the two or three cars usually seen in Dodgeville's business district there were 15. And there were another dozen, including a neat convertible, cruising as I came in to work. Hopefully they were not traveling to a gathering or at one and were just enjoying the nice weather.
At any rate, we need to remember that over 40,000 people have died of COVID-19 and the US has the most cases in the world. That should remind us the virus is far from gone.
So our advice is to do all you can to obey the order and stay home. After all, it must be working as Wisconsin is still under the predictions when it comes to cases.
In order to be safe again, we need to have enough tests to go around and a vaccine that will control the virus. Those days are coming.
Won't it be great when they do.
