Here's a real "Along the Ad Routes Story." After my buddy Terry Carroll closed his True Value Hardware Store a new "kid on the block" came in - Ederer's Do-It-Best. They are located just north of the Roundabout on Bennett Road. Last week I was told that the Saturday and Sunday of that week they were the busiest they have ever been on a weekend. Anna, the store manager, said she asked one couple who made a pretty good purchase where they were from. They said right here, but had never been in the store before. They had made the decision to support the small businesses in this time of crisis. Hopefully this will lead to people finding out the "little guys" can serve you well!

We haven't really reached the point of "crisis" yet, but here's a quote that may help cope with the COVID-19 pandemic. It also entails China where all of this may've started.
"When written in Chinese, the word 'crisis' is composed of two characters. One represents danger and the other represents opportunity."
- John F. Kennedy

We received a note from (Barneveld connection) Lois Clerkin. She said: "Enclosed check for another year of the Chronicle. Thank you for your great coverage of area sports that the so-called state papers ignore."

I had a call from a sister of a classmate of mine - Doris (Henry) of California. She said it wasn't unusual to receive two or three papers at the same time. Some came pretty much on time, others didn't. She said she just received three papers, but one looked like it had been behind a desk for awhile. She began reading it and realized it was three years old! It was dated February 2, 2017. I think even the "Pony Express" would've gotten it to her faster!

A HUGE congratulations to former Highland girls basketball player Maddie Drury as she was part of the Western Wisconsin Technical College's NJCAA D3 National Women's Basketball Championship recently. I had the privilege to watch her play for Highland during her career. See a complete story elsewhere in this paper!

When you look at the photo above, you'll see me reading a newspaper (who'd ever think) from one of the Scandinavian countries that I had a chance to visit in 1976. I haven't changed a bit either! That photo was courtesy of classmate Curt Anderson, who was also on that same trip to England, Scotland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
