I had the chance to take a look at the progress on the new Dodgeville Laundromat on the corner of Bequette and Spring Streets. Ka Phan was there and said he hopes for a mid-October opening. It has a new roof and very nice looking brick front. The floors have been replaced with pretty thick concrete and the alleys are in place for plumbing and drains inside. For a good amount of people it can't open soon enough!

The AmericInn is a new addition to the Highway 23 motels. It's across the highway from the Don Q Inn and just down the road from the House on the Rock Inn.

I stopped to see fellow 1964 classmate Gary Butteris the other day. He's been diagnosed with cancer. He's right here in Dodgeville at 215 E. Chapel Street. He was a lineman on the undefeated Dodgeville Football Team of 1963.

Sunday, September 15 is the date for this year's Dodgeville Area Scholarship Foundation's annual golf tournament (18th Annual). It starts an hour earlier this year (10:30 a.m.) with registration at 9:30. There's still room for some teams, so if you haven't gotten in yet please do so soon. Check out the website for all the information or contact Carrie Schroeder at 574-0267 or any DASFI board member. There will be a bunch of people my age and older and younger there, so even if you don't play stop out to Dodge Point and say "hi" to some people you haven't seen in quite some time!

Remember that DASFI is responsible for around $40,000 in scholarships given to Dodgeville graduating seniors each year. If you can't make the event to bid on some of the items, maybe plan a donation to the organization in the near future!

Coming up soon - Friday, October 18 - is the Dodgeville Chamber of Commerce sponsored "Off the Vine." This is a Wine Walk that leads you to a group of businesses throughout downtown Dodgeville. Businesses are currently being signed up for the event and tickets are on sale at the chamber of commerce building. To be a part of it contact the chamber at 935-9200. This is always a "fun" event!

Don't forget the open house and tours of the areas that are finished at Upland Hills Health this Sunday, September 8 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tours will start every 15 minutes!

I spent a good share of Saturday at the Iowa County Fair. It's always a great time to see a lot of people I maybe only get to see once a year - at the fair! Check out the photo above taken during the Dairy Beef Show.
