McFarland ends Dodgeville's season

Dodgeville's volleyball team swept Prairie du Chien in their first post season test but McFarland was another story.
The Dodgers trimmed the Blackhawks 25-16, 25-22. 25-16.
Caitlyn Blume was Dodgeville's kill leader with 10; Olivia Argall had two block kills, Grace Borne had 20 assists, and JoJo Heimerl had eight defensive digs.
"The girls came out ready to play, and played a strong match overall," said coach Nicole Hottmann.
McFarland was a team of many talents and it took the Dodgers all three sets to figure things out. Scores were 25-3, 25-11 and 25-18.
"McFarland came out strong in set one with some big hits and big blocks at the net which took us out of our offensive game," Hottmann said. "At that point we shut down as a team and struggled to pass on serve receive."
"During set two we started to get more comfortable on the court and play with them a little bit, and finally by set three we were looking more like the team we saw this year," Hottmann said. "Unfortunately by then, it was too late in the game to turn things around."
"Lucy Heimerl had a strong set three with two ace serves and many serving points for us," added the coach. "Alyssa Alfred led us in digs with four. Our offense struggled due to our serve receive struggling as McFarland is a very strong serving team. JoJo Heimerl led us with four offensive kills, followed by Anna Ruhland and Olivia Argall who both had three offensive kills. Olivia Argall also had one solo block kill."
Hottmann summed up the season with the following:
"As coaches, we are very proud of our teams and our program this season." she said. "We grew a lot at every level in one short year. It's always sad to see the season come to a close, and really hard to say goodbye to our wonderful seniors. This is a very special group of girls who we are truly going to miss next year."
"Thank you Seniors, for the dedication you have given to the Dodgeville volleyball program - your strong work ethic, positive energy, ability to be supportive teammates and leading by example made all the difference to our team and to our program this season. Thank you for setting the tempo for the rest of the program and for giving us your best day in and day out. It does not go unnoticed and you are truly going to be missed."
