Dodge-Point's Henry Keith 20th at state XC

Even though the Dodgeville-Mineral Point boys cross country team missed a state Division 2 appearance by one place, that didn't dampen the spirits of the distance race contingent to appear at the Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids to cheer on senior Henry Keith.
Keith, making his fourth straight state run, finished 20th individually in the 5000 meter race. He ran a 16:58.
"It was like a snow globe before the race Saturday. There was snow flying. It was very terrifying," said Dodge-Point coach Denny McGraw. "But it cleared by race time."
"Henry was 52nd at the mile then passed 20 runners before the two mile," he added. "Then he passed 12 more before the finish , It was a very strong finish for him and a good way to end his high school career."
"The crowd was there for him and that said a lot," the coach said. ""He should be a role model fore the younger runners."In looking to next year, McGraw said, "We're excited about next year."
