Dear Editor:
I write in praise of the Chronicle's editorial in last week's edition.
Editor and co-publisher J. Patrick Reilly's tempered and timely piece asked all the right questions about the county board's recent decision to assist in funding the CHC appeal.
I agree with the Chronicle's assessment. Regardless of your opinion on the merits of the CHC project, the use of $50,000 county tax dollars to fund the appeal is ill-advised.
Above all, recognize that the Chronicle's stand was a gutsy call, demonstrating the importance of local journalism. This was not taking the easy road. Hats off to the Chronicle for saying what needed to be said.
