Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour this Saturday night as Daylight Savings Time ends. If you don't do it, you'll be off schedule the entire day and maybe even for work on Monday! Remember "Spring Forward, Fall Back!"

It was a very good day last Saturday for the 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat held outside in the courthouse parking lot. I can't really tell you how many kids were in attendance, but I would have to say well over 300! Of course many were accompanied by adults or older siblings too. The parking lot was filled from 1:15 to 2:45 and there were people there before 1:00 and up until the trunks were torn down at 3:00. The Congregational Church basement was a big hit with the Haunted House. I went through it and it was put together very well. It took a lot of work and dedication to make it as fun and scary as it was!

Today (Thursday) is Halloween. There will be a lot of trick or treaters out in the area and there will be some inside fun activities too.

Friday starts the month of November. That means the countdown to Christmas begins and also to the end of 2019! It's no lie the older you get the faster the years go by!

Congratulations to Dodgeville-Mineral Point cross country runner Henry Keith as he willrepresent his team at the state cross country champinoships in Wisconsin Rapids Saturday. The team just missed out qualifing, finishing 3rd! And what a day Saturday for the Iowa-Grant boys cross country team. They finished runner-up at Boscobel and will head to state as a team, the firt time since 2001. Good luck to the runners!

Iowa-Grant is the lone coverage area volleyball team still in contention for a trip to state. They are seeded #1 in their Regional and play Thursday night at home against #2 Seneca. The other half of the Sectional sees #1 Hillsboro hosting #2 Royall. The winners play Saturday night at Richland Center to earn a trip to state. Good Luck Panthers!

Mineral Point and River Valley from our coverage area both won their first round football games and now move on to Level 2. The Pointers host Lancaster, a familiar foe, while River Valley hosts Edgerton. Unfortunately Highland bowed out last Friday night. They had a good season. Best of luck to the Pointers and Blackhawks!

The corner at West Merrimac and Iowa Street will be pretty desolate after this weekend when the Corner Drug Store moves to Springate Mall (Piggly Wiggly) in the former Swanson Pharmacy spot. They have been at the downtown location for 125 years. I will personally miss them with the "Old Fashioned Soda Fountain," the coffee clutch and them being right next door is pretty darn handy!
