Baehler pitches, homers Pointers to win

Justin Baehler took the trip to the mound at Mineral Point which he has done many times while catching to have a talk with his pitcher but this time he stayed there.
Baehler, who is deep in the rotation for the Pointers got the call Tuesday and answered it with a 10-0 shutout win over Southwestern to send his team to the WIAA Division 4 Regional finals where they will face Pecatonica.
The junior right hander gave up only three hits while striking out five and walking one.
If that wasn't enough he also homered in the bottom of the fifth to end the game by the 10 run rule.
The Pointers played errorless ball behind Baehler and smashed out 13 hits that resulted in a three run first, five run third and two run fifth. They only struck out twice all day.
Grady Gorgen was 3x3 for the Pointers with a double. Liam Stumpf went 2x4 with a double. Baehler finished 2x3 with a double, home run and three ribs. Uriah Ottoway was 2x3 and Dom McVay added a double.
"We hit well and Justin pitched a gem," said coach Jordan Tibbits.
