Thankful for the end result

Last Friday my brother, Mike had a stroke and ended up in St. Mary's for three days. He was diagnosed in the danger zone with an aneurysm, stroke and high blood pressure which probably triggered the whole episode.
I have to admit it was a scary thing for me and a terrifying experience for Mike. The one thing he found out is that a lot of people care about him.
Mike is not one known to graciously accept change but change is what has to take place. He says he is going to make the changes but it will be a challenge. Hopefully people remind him he needs to follow his medication schedule, adjust his diet and give up a couple of his favorite things....salt and butter.
Mike is back at work on a limited basis and is challenged with making sure he does not overdo it. He still makes his lunch with the amigos who are also making sure he eats healthy.
I have had Mike around for all but 20 months of my life and the thought of him not being around was like running head first into a brick wall. We have our moments but it is always ends up good.
So Mike, keep on fighting. We need you around for a long, long time.
And we are all here to help.
