Lindsey shoots way to semifinals at 3-Point Contest


Mineral Point freshman girls basketball sharpshooter Mallory Lindsey had a good run Saturday morning at the WIAA Girls State Basketball 3-Point Contest. Representing Division 4, she reached the semifinals by making 16 of 25 shots in the first round. She tied with Elk Mound (D3) junior Sophie Cederblade by making 13 in the semis, but lost making the finals 3-1. She took 3rd overall.
Cederblade then beat McDonell Central's Maggie Cracker 18-16 in the finals.
Also competing in D4 was Lancaster's Devin Wagner from the SWC.
Lindsey qualified for the event by having the second best 3-point shooting percentage in Division 4 this season. She hit on 39 of 83 attempts for 47.0 %.
The D4 leader was Colby senior Ashley Streveler, who hit 47.7% of her long range attempts. She played in theis year's state tournament.
The overall percentage leader this season(75 attempts or more) was freshman Sarah Newcomer of Pewaukee.She hit long range shots at a 52% clip.
