Dear Editor:
I would like to encourage all voters within the Dodgeville School District to vote for Jessica Wieczorek for School Board. Jessica is a Dodgeville alumna (as is her husband, Eli). Their two children both attend the Elementary School, and this will allow her to bring a focus of a parent whose children are just beginning their journey within our school district. She has volunteered at their school and in their classrooms. Serving on committees to inform and fundraise for the last referenda, she has shown a dedication to the future of our district as well as a commitment to her community. Jessica's participation doesn't stop there. She has consistently attended school board meetings as well as committee meetings, demonstrating her interest and her dedication to the intricacies of running a school district. At the "meet the candidates" night prior to the primary election, Jessica spoke with an easy familiarity of the issues at hand and she wasn't afraid to say things that she thought to be true. For example, the fact that Dodgeville teachers are paid less than other surrounding districts may be a cause of teachers not wanting to stay here and something that should be addressed. She wasn't afraid to say so. We need individuals like that.
She was able to answer questions with background knowledge that her opponent did not have. It was obvious that she not only did her research but that Dodgeville schools are simply a part of her life and what she is passionate about. Her answers demonstrated that she can reference that knowledge with confidence and ease. While both candidates show a commitment to our school community, Jessica is the candidate who is obviously ready for the job: prepared, knowledgeable, and dedicated to making our schools as excellent as they can for students and staff. Please vote for school board on April 2nd; and when you vote, please give Jessica the support that she has earned.
