We received renewals recently from two former Dodgevilleites, Ron and Rod Matz. Rod, who has a photography studio in Iowa, wrote: "Good morning, Whoever opens this letter, do me a favor, go and give Mike a swift kick in the behind, just for old time sake. Remind him what a great brother he has, but we do appreciate him also. I truly enjoy the paper, especially Pat's articles. Thank you, Rodney J. Matz"
The second one came a few days later from his brother Ron. He wrote: "Pat & Mike: Find a check for another year of the Chronicle. Hope there are many more years of newsprint. Congratulations to you and your staff for a weekly paper. Always look forward to receiving the Chronicle. The postal department is another thing. Here are some dates of delivery for 2018 - June 1 edition received on November 13; July 26 on October 11; October 25 on November 23." Ron lives in Sedilia, Missouri.

We didn't have a "coverage area" team at this season's WIAA Girls Basketball Tournament in Green Bay, but congratulations to Black Hawk, from the Six Rivers Conference, on winning the Division 5 crown. Another area team, Monroe, made it to the semifinals in Division 2. Congratulations to all the state tournament teams!

Even though we didn't have a "coverage area" team at state, we were represented in the 3-Point Challenge by freshman Mallory Lindsey. She fared well as she made it out of the first round and lost by a shootout in the semifinals. Great job by her!

This coming Sunday is St.Patrick's Day. Obviously with a name like Reilly, there's a "wee" bit of Irish in me and brother Pat! I do really like to eat corned beef & cabbage, but for some reason basically only have it once a year. It could be the smell of it cooking that it only gets made once a year!

I see the laundromat issue was tabled at the last Dodgeville City Council meeting due to ownership of the property. We hope it gets resolved soon and we have a laundromat to service the community - we really need one!

I went to the Dodgeville High School Spring Play "Fools" last Friday night. The kids did a really good job with it and seemed to have a lot of fun performing it. Check out the above photo for some of the acting!
