I am voting NO on this one

Dear Editor:
I'm a Mineral Pointer, second time around. I lived here as a girl and then moved back to town about 15 years ago after living away for many years. The quality of our district's schools is important to me. I went to elementary school here and now my grandchildren attend our schools.
I plan to vote NO on the April 2 school referendum because:
-I think it is plain wrong to ignore the voters' directive of the November referendum.
-The extensive and well thought-out plans for renovation and improvements to our existing elementary school, as approved in the prior referendum, will fully support ongoing excellent educational programming---which has earned high state ratings.
-It looks to me like spending $19-plus million for the proposed new construction offers dubious benefits over spending $11-plus million. Further, the new construction and relocation could very well cause future financial stress, inefficiencies, and waste.
-We have high taxes here. I will always support our schools, but I do not want an unnecessary tax increase.
Sincerely,
Jude Clayton, Mineral Point
DODGEVILLE
