Had a nice note from DHS graduate (1963) Dick Ellenbolt and his wife Sandy. He wrote: "Hope you're off to a great summer! Since we haven't had a health issue update recently, we're assuming you're about back to your Old self. As the saying goes ... it takes more than a stroke to lay low an Irishman! Stay well my friend!" He added a P.S. "Please give our best to buddy, Pat. (Ran across a childhood phone book - circa early 1950's - with Pat & Mike phone #2191. Sound familiar?!)

Graduating in 1963, Dick was in Pat's class, but I get to go to all that class's reunions as most were like "family" to me. I always get to have a nice chat with Dick when that time comes around - every five years! And yes I made a lot of calls from that old phone number when I was younger - business of course!

My update is that I'm not 100% yet, but seem to be better every day. I still get very tired about mid afternoon and that's when I usually leave the office. But, with baseball season upon is, I have been doing a lot of cooking before the games start at Centennial Park - that's almost daily!

I find myself crossing the streets a little bit more gingerly as I can't move as fast as I used to. People are getting trained pretty well in downtown Dodgeville to stop for pedestrians in the crosswalks. Still trying to cross as people are heading to work in the morning can be challenging!

I had the chance to attend the Betty Hayes Dance Recital Friday night in Richland Center. It was Betty's 72nd year of recitals - gee that's how old I am! This recital was one of the best I've seen over the years. The kids (from very little to seniors in high school) seemed to all be better dancers overall than in the past. They were very focused. Betty is doing great and again, accomplished choreographer and daughter Cheryl was on hand. The recital was also held Saturday afternoon. The three hours and 35 minute show Friday night tired me out a lot, but it was worth it!

My great niece Danielle Roh (Pat's granddaughter) is always a highlight of the show. She dances very well. She is going to be a high school senior next year and dances on the Dodgeville High School Dance Team that performs mainly during halftime of home football games. (See Danielle in above photo on left.)

Congratulations to the Mineral Point baseball team on their 2nd place finish in Division 4 at the state tournament last week. They ran into a buzzsaw in that Webster team in the title game. In bringing home a silver trophy they are the first baseball team to put a state trophy in their trophy case!
