Remember to take time for yourself

By Kasi Greenwood-kgreenwood@thedodgevillechronicle.com

With summer here, there will be millions of calendars filled with summer happenings. Families and friends will gather together to go camping, family reunions will take place, summer 4-H projects and summer athletic leagues will be happening from June to August.
There will also be many festivals going on that have filled our updates and community sections as well as news stories.
There are often times that it can seem like there is alot going on in a short period of three months. One wonders if and how they can fit it all in. But one thing is important: it is important that you take time for yourself. Whether you are have kids or you don't, if you don't take care of yourself how can you expect yourself to take care of someone else? You can't.
Last week I took my own advice I am giving you, and did a "staycation." I mean "staycation" because I didn't plan a trip to anywhere. I took that week to do things that fed my soul so I could come back and be ready to go. As a journalist for a small community, it can be hard to do, with so many things going on. But sometimes that's the only choice you have.
I spent time with my sister, nieces and nephew and swam at their neighbors pool, listened to a couple books I wanted to catch up on, spent time with my grandparents and also other things.
I am glad I did it, because it was necessary and it was worth it.
