Well the rain is a little bit more on a decent schedule, or so the weather forecasts say. Rain is in the air only about every 2-3 days. The middle of the month (next week) we may get rain for several days in a row and the last week of the month too. I had someone ask me when the rain was going to shut off. I answered, "I think by November when the snow will start!"

Seriously, I hope the rain doesn't shut off. It might've been around 1988 that the rain did shut off around the end of May and we didn't get hardly anything more until the fall. That wasn't a fun summer for anything, especially the farmers!

I was at the Dodgeville Lions Club's annual June Antique Show and Flea Market. Attendance was down a little (not much) and we had mixed feelings from the vendors. Some said they had really great days and some not so much. It was a beautiful day and I know there were still some graduation parties going on plus family reunions have begun already. I worked in the concession stand and that part did really well. People were hungry and the Lioness pies sold out around 11:00 a.m. I guess they will just have to make more pies!
I did buy four baseball gloves for brother Pat (belated birthday present!). It's always fun getting to chat with the people who attend! Check out the photo above of some of the buyers.

This Sunday is Father's Day. That's a great time to "smooze" with the man who helped bring you up as a child and who has a lot of joy being with your children (grandchildren). He may've taught you a few things over the years like how to fix things around the house, work on your car, play catch or kick or shoot a ball or gun. He's probably done a lot more for you than you remember!

This Friday and Saturday are also the days for the annual Betty Hayes School of Dance recital at the Richland Center auditorium. I have relatives and friends taking part and plan to be there for a performance. It's always a lot of fun watching them on stage from very early ages to high school graduates!

I had the chance to be part of the 96th birthdaay celebration of former neighbor Dorothy Weirich recently at the Red Room Bar & Restaurant in downtown Dodgeville. Besides myself, those celebrating with her were: Jim McCaulley, Dodgeville; Carol Stowe, Carmel California; John St.Claire, Green Bay; Sheila and Lucille Burris; and Paula Terrill, Dodgeville. Dorothy is now back in Dodgeville and she is very spry!

I know by the time this paper gets to a lot of you we will know whether or not the Mineral Point baseball team has won the Division 4 State Championship or not. They play Wednesday morning and, if they win, again at 9:00 a.m. Thursday morning. We wish them good luck and a job well done!
