Panthers get it right in win over Braves

It is exciting for a coach to see the things that are stressed in practice carry over to the game and earn a win in the process.
Iowa-Grant coach Ryan Hill has had the Panther boys team working on taking care of the basketball and playing hard on the defensive end. Both areas showed vast improvement last Thursday and helped the Panthers to a 55-36 win over Belmont in a non-conference game at I-G.
"It was a good team win," Hill said. "Belmont is an improved team and we had to be ready to go. And it was good to see we were."
Besides taking care of the ball better and playing well on the defensive end, the Panthers also passed the ball to the open player to get the best looks possible.
"Belmont played us man to man and we did a good job finding the open person," Hill said. "We got some awfully nice looks."
Defensively the Panthers did not allow a Braves player to reach double figures. Offensively Cobb Hubbard broke loose for 23 points with a strong inside game and Ethan Kuhls added 11 along with Isaac Hill's 10. Hubbard was a force each half with nine the first 18 minutes and 14 the last.
Kuhls was a work horse on the boards for the Panthers.
"He pounded the boards," Hill said. "He led us with his aggressiveness and defensively he forced several turnovers. He was our leader tonight and was the main reason we controlled the boards."
Other highlights for the Panthers according to Hill came with the passing of Michael Winders who accounted for several assists and a big three pointer from Kaden Paradis when he came off the bench.
