Shorthanded Dodger girls fall short

Shorthanded . That was the name of the game Dodgeville's girls basketball team played Friday night in a match-up with Lancaster in SWC action.
The Dodgers were without their leading scorer Olivia Argall (concussion protocol) and point guard/third leading scorer Grace Borne (ankle injury).
It took a half for the revamped Dodgeville team to get going offensively. After trailing 27-16 at the half, they outscored the Arrows 25-23 in period two and dropped the contest 50-41.
"It's tough when you lose two of your three top scorers that includes your point guard," Dodgeville coach Josh Busch pointed out. " I thought the kids responded pretty well. Several of them haven't been in a spot like this before. Defensively we missed a few rotations, but did pretty well. Our offense picked up the second half."
"It was encouraging to see the girls doing that. Hopefully this will help a lot when the other two girls get back," Busch said.
On the night sophomore JoJo Heimerl led the offense with 14 points. She put in nine the second half. Seven players scored.
Lancaster was led by senior Devin Wagner with 19 points. She hit 13 in period one.
Senior Lydia Murphy scored 10 of her 12 in the second half while junior Brooklyn Connelly had seven of her 10 in the first half.
