Panthers match Cubans in tight SWAL test

One thing coaches tell their teams is win or lose make sure the team you are playing is not looking forward to meeting you again.
If that is the case then the Cuba City Cubans have probably seen enough of Iowa-Grant.
The Panthers, a team where winning in the tough SWAL does not come easy, stayed with the Cubans before being forced to settle for a 65-52 decision.
The Panthers stayed dangerously close trailing by only seven at halftime and then losing by 13 with much of the final margin due to some late free throw success by the Cubans.
Brady Olson had the ball in his hands during much of the time for free throws and made eight straight down the stretch. He finished 12 for 15 from the line and added a pair of hard earned baskets for 16 points. Foster Petitgoue and Jack Misky also reached doubles for the Cubans with 17 and 12.
The Panthers zoned at the start then found their man to man gave the Cubans the most trouble so they settled into that the second half.
Sophomore Isaac Hill was a big reason the Panthers tagged along for the entire game. He netted five three pointers, four in the second half, and took scoring honors for the game with 21 points. Michael Winders and Cobb Hubbard both tallied nine.
"The kids played hard," said Panther coach Ryan Hill. "We have been struggling with turnovers but tonight we did a much better job of taking care of the ball."
It took a few early turnovers and a 12-2 Cuban lead to get the Panthers untracked. Once they did they matched points with the Cubans the rest of the way.
Hill credited ball movement with Isaac Hill's success with the open threes.
"His three pointers were the result of good ball movement," Hill said.
"Cuba City is a very good basketball team," Hill added. "We played much better basketball tonight, moved the ball and got good looks. We played very well against a very good team."
