Big 2nd half boosts Eagles past Ponies

"It was a great way to send our seniors off on senior night," were the words Barneveld boys basketball coach Tyler Sullivan summed up his team's 81-60 win over a scrappy Monticello team Thursday night in Six Rivers East action.
The Eagles had 12 players score in the win, led by seniors Dayne Evans (20 points) and Malcom Reed (18 points).
Junior Jack Thompson added 12.
The score was knotted at 30 at halftime, but the Eagles got 10 points out of Reed, nine out of Evans, nine out of Thompson and all of his seven out of junior Matthew Fahey to lead the 51-point second half.
"Monticello really did some nice things the first half that gave us some problems and Gustafson for them is a really nice player who took it to us at times," Sullivan pointed out. "Defensively we still have some things to work on, but we gave much better effort the second half."
The Gustafson he was talking about is Peter, who hit 12 of his 20 points in the first half.
Jeffery Ace put in 10 of his 19 in the first 18 minutes too.
He went on saying, "Offensively the first half we took a lot of quick shots when I felt like we could of worked the ball and got some better looks. The second half we made some adjustments and we were really patient, moved the ball well and got a lot of easy looks and isolations for certain guys."
"This was a big win to keep us towards the top of conference with three big conference games left," sullivan concluded.
