Dodger girls can't hold lead

Dodgeville girls led Platteville 26-23 at halftime Friday night, but then the shots quit falling.
The end result in the SWC match-up saw the Lady Hillmen coming away with a 57-45 win.
The Dodger defense held Platteville's Becca Hoyer to five points in that first half - she finished with a game-high 19.
They also stopped point guard Josie Nies in the first limiting her to just one free throw. She finished the night with 13.
it was Izzy Carroll who kept the Lady Hillmen in it for the first 18 minutes as she had 11 of her 17 during that stretch.
Platteville held Dodger leading scorer Olivia Argall to five points in the first half, but AJ Phillips and Grace Borne each had six points, Amanda Ludwig four, JoJo Heimerl three and Charity Starr two that made the 26 total.
Argall scored eight in the second half to be the lone Dodger to hit double figures at the end with 13. Phillips was next with eight.
"It was a fun atmosphere with senior night - hard to believe it is already that time of year, but it was great to honor Samara, Taylor, Charity, and Arianna," Dodgeville coach Josh Busch said.
He added, "We showed in this game that when we play the way we want to play we can play with good teams. I thought we controlled the first half well, but we had opportunities to create more separation and did not. I was happy with our defense, the girls were physical and did a better job of communicating."
About the second half he said, "In the second half we got out to a strong start and we got were able to extend our lead and maintain it for the first eight minutes or so. Then we just could not make a shot. We went 15 consecutive possessions without scoring and it does not matter who you are playing it's tough to win when you do that. Overall on the night we were a 13-74 from the field, and to still give ourself a chance to compete shooting like that is encouraging. We are playing well and hopefully we can take that into the tournament."
Argall led the Dodgers with eight rebounds. Heimerl and Ludwig were right behind with seven.
The Dodgers had 10 steals with Heimerl snatching three.
The team only committed 11 turnovers.
