Weather is still a huge topic around the area. The snow, cold, rain, sleet and everything in between has forced postponements of many sporting events, meetings, other events and has even forced businesses to close. As of Monday it is questionable if people will be able to make it to work or go to school on Tuesday. Weather predictors (who are ALWAYS right) say we could get 6-8 inches of snow by Wednesday morning. That would force postponement of some 10 sporting events we would be covering for area schools that night. In many cases it could be the final regular season (scheduled) games for some girls basketball teams as tournaments begin next Tuesday. They would have later this week to play the remainder of their regular season...but snow is in the forecast later in the week too!

The photo above reminds everyone of how one of the last snowfalls was handled!

Anyway, with tournaments starting next Tuesday, good luck to the area girls basketball teams. Also scheduled for Tuesday night, February 12 was the WIAA Wrestling Team Sectionals in which Pecatonica-Argyle was scheduled to be a participant. Good luck to them if (or when) they wrestled!

There are a lot of individual wrestlers from Dodgeville, River Valley, Iowa-Grant/Highland, Mineral Point and Pecatonica-Argyle heading into Sectional competition at both Adams-Friendship (D2) and Mineral Point (D3) Saturday in hopes to make a trip to the Kohl Center and State. Good luck to all those individuals!

Last week had the area overrun with police and sheriff's department officers (and maybe other agencies) with the "Valdez" trial happening in the Iowa County Courthouse Courtroom. There were a lot of spectators around for the proceedings too. That trial began on Monday and finished Friday. A verdict wasn't reached, so all signs point to starting all over again!

This Sunday (February 17) from 8 a.m. to noon will be the Dodgeville Lions and Lioness Annual Pancake Breakfast at the Dodger Bowl. The meal is Free, but any donations will be given to Dodgeville Food Locker. There will be several "health checks" available too. Stop out and have a good breakfast and some good conversation!

Thursday (February 14) is Valentine's Day. I probably should bring something to the office staff like rolls from my "favorite"bakery!
