Dodgeville-Mineral Point's gymnastics team finished a distant runner-up to powerful Mount horeb at the River Valley Invitational Saturday.
The Vikings posted a 140.500 to Dodge-Point's 130.025.
The rest of the team scores were: Viroqua co-op 127.225, Platteville tri-op 126.825, River Valley/Barneveld 119.300, Southwestern tri-op 113.675, Westby 108.675 and Prairie du Chien/Fennimore 92.950.
Dodge-Point's Tessa Bockhop set a school mark but finshed second on floor with a 9.475. Mount Horeb's Drea O'Connell posted a 9.5.
D-P's Miah Lemanski finished second in All-Around with a 36.675 to O'Connell's 37.375.
Lemanski took second on vault with a 9.075 to O'Connell's 9.35.
She also was third on bars with an 8.375. O'Connell won at 9.125 with her teammate Grace O'Niell second with 8.4.
The JV also took second with 101.450 points to winning Mount Horeb's 127.400.
Then came: RV/B 97.650, P/B/L 96.450, Viroqua Area 96.450.
Dodge-Point coach Julia Oellerich had these comments following the meet:
"Our vault scores were lower than we are used to, even though we performed relatively well and Miah Lemanski and Tessa Bockhop landed their tsuks. We also had quite a few stops and falls on bars. We really needed to pull through on beam, which has been our achilles heal this year. Thankfully we spent a lot of time last week working on our presentation.
"We had a quick turn around from beam to floor so we were able to carry the momentum from Tessa and Miah's stuck beam routines to floor. It was exactly what we needed.
"We had some of our best floor routines all season, with many of the girls achieving their personal bests. With the addition of two new skills Tessa put up a huge score, a personal best and a school record with a 9.475. Miah had a season high floor score with a 9.3 and Elle Honerbaum achieved a personal best as well with an 8.85.
"The Varisty Reserve team put up some nice scores as well. Tessa Yeager, Ashlie Baumgartner, and Emily Sullivan all had personal bests on floor. This, along with solid beam routines helped the team achieve their season high score of 101.45."
